My deepest condolences to Chip for the loss of Anna Maria, who like Chip, Pete and others in our tribe, I knew through 12 years at Rosemont, Greiner and Sunset. She was a whip-smart, kind and caring person whose memory I will cherish. One of the toughest aspects of aging -- if we live long enough -- is losing those embedded in in our hearts. RIP Anna Maria.

I too knew Anna Maria through 12 years of Rosemont, Greiner, and Sunset.  She was a happy, beautiful, friendly person who could light up a room with her smile and laughter.

My condolonces to Chip and family and close friends.

My memories of Anna span our years together from 1st grade on. She was beautiful, vibrant, talented, bright, happy, caring, and a wonderful anesthesiologist in her career. Most of all, I remember her as my treasured friend in the neighborhood while growing up and my close birthday friend, along with Jan Fite, in our adult years. I will dearly miss her, and I send love and prayers to Chip, their family, and her many friends.

Dear, dear Anna Maria, so much has already been said and you have been gone but a day.  I will always remember your grace and beauty, your quick wit, your brilliance - both in academics and in life.  I was blessed to be in Honors courses with you and to often share ideas above and beyond the requirements.  May dear Chip and your family and close friends receive many blessings for their care and love for you.  I know you will be sorely missed but the good that you did will live on forever.

Chip: Like the other commenters I am truly sorry for your loss. What I remember most? Her laugh (with maybe a knee-slap to go with it). Peace

I knew Anna Maria for 12 years and was amazed at her energy and fortitude. Everything she did she did well. These qualities were just as evident at Rosemont as they were at Sunset. I was not at all surprised when I heard she had become a doctor. Chip, I can't image the pain you're going through and I wish I could take some of that off your shoulders. We were so happy when the two of you found each other. God bless your families at this especially hard time.

I am so saddened to hear about Anna Maria.  I only attended Rosemont for 1 year so it wasn't until I got to Greiner that I met her.  She was always to beautiful and smart.  I know she will be missed by family and friends, especially those who went all through 12 grades with her.  I understand her last hear of life was difficult so thoughts and prayers for Chip and family.  RIP Anna Maria.

I worked as an RN in the recovery room at Methodist Hospital in Oak Cliff for several years. Anna was a new physician and I was a new nurse. I never dreaded experiencing how the patients would recover from anesthesia when Anna brought them out of the OR. She was extremely bright. Our OR team had so much fun. So sorry to hear the news.
Rest in peace my dear friend.

Anna Maria Curry, MD, 76, passed away on December 21, 2023 at her home in Dallas

Anna was born in Dallas on July 7, 1947 to George W. Curry and Lucille Clark. She attended Rosemont Elementary, Greiner Junior High, and graduated from Sunset High School  in 1965 with high honors. Anna then graduated from The University of Texas Austin in 3 years in 1968 and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1972.

Early in life Anna participated in ballet, tap dancing, chorus, drill team , and honors classes. Later in life she was a member of the Golden Retriever Foundation, Terrell Gun Club, and Brook Hollow Golf Club. In 1992 she married Earl “Chip” Stewart III.

Anna spent 44 years as an anesthesiologist with the majority of those years being at Medical City Dallas. She was the quintessential medical professional. Anna was highly respected by her peers, incredibly knowledgeable in her practice, competent in its execution, and loved by her patients, nurses, and fellow doctors. She became a physician at a time when it was uncommon for a female. Anna was one of six women in her medical school class of 105 students. She fought challenges in medicine so that women today would not have to do so.

Anna’s passion beyond medicine centered on her Golden Retriever dogs where she displayed the same attributes as she did in medicine. Her Gingrock’s Kennels earned numerous awards nation-wide in field trials and hunt tests. Anna’s abiding love for her dogs was steadfast. In every step she was principled, exceptionally resilient, intelligent, unwavering in her convictions, and driven with a DOGmatic personality. Her infectious smile was her trademark.

Anna is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Chip Stewart, brothers George Curry and Clark Curry as well as nephew Christopher Curry and nieces Mellisa Miller and Calista Curry.

Anna was admired and will be missed, but because of her faith in Jesus, she is now out of her earthly suffering and is in Paradise in the hands of The LORD.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jan Fite Miller, Patty Sanguily, Jane Admire, MD, Martha McCool, Susan Beckman, and Rita Robins.

A Memorial Celebration Party will be held on Sunday, February 18 from 2:00 to 4:00PM in The Oak Room of Brook Hollow Golf Club, 8301 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Anna’s name to the Golden Retriever Foundation, PO Box 2489, Ganseport, NY 12831.
